dzasta travels
When we arrived in Nairobi one of the girls on the tour had a seizure. We were very lucky cos we were about 15min from the hospital so we went straight there. (she spent 2 night there and seems to be OK so she is going to get on the next trip in a few days) We had to hang around while they did the paperwork. (I would have dumped us at the hotel and got rid of that problem) This meant we were late getting to the hotel and I had to run down town to get a new camera and change some money. I just had time and then had to leg it back to the hotel for a briefing and to say goodbye to the people leaving. I think I told you about the ****** hotel.
Next morning we had early start to Lake Nakuru. On the way the trip leader broke the good news. They are not going to tell us who to tip and when to tip on this trip. NO they want a TIP KITTY!! I don't get a say in who gets a tip just stump up $30 and they decide.
At Lake Nakuru we stayed in the national park again without fences, in our tents. The new people were a bit scared about it but us old campaigners were used to it so no probs for us. We put up the tents and went for a game drive. Saw a few animals then George, the driver, started speeding past everything we wanted to see. He had been told about a lion and we were after it. I saw it sitting on a rock cleaning itself. we got some pics but he was behind some bushes, then he decided to come down and we go a close look as he walked right in front of the truck. While this was happening the leader got a phone call to say baboons had raided our camp and stolen some stuff. When we got back my tent was Ok so there was no probs for me. A couple had their tent ransacked and lost some stuff. Early game drive next morning was pretty quiet except I thought I saw a leopard but I cant confirm that cos it was soo quick. We did see what was left of his kill.
Back in Nakuru we stopped at the shopping ctr for the crew to do some shopping and for me to meat up with a guy I met yesterday, John2, my go to guy for T shirts. when I met him yesterday he nearly died when I started talking Swahili to him. I said "kaka mzungu sina pesa" and he stepped back and said "how come you speak Swahili" (it means "brother I am white man with no money" I told him I was looking for a tshirt with that on and we negotiated a price and he said he would have it tomorrow. Sure enough he had it and we did the transaction. I put on the tshirt and walked through the shopping ctr and all the natives read it and laughed. We are now best mates.
Tonite I will be in Eldorhet and tomorrow cross the border again into Uganda. As usual at Eldorhet we were in the middle of no where and no internet.
I have actually made it to Kampala and true to Intrepid style we are in the back blocks. The place is very nice but again we don't get to interact with the locals. We had a long drive today and again tomorrow to Kibbale to walk with the chimps. they just told us no internet at Kibbale so wont be on again till Rwanda in about 4 days.

Ngaere Really like this one
Ngaere Love the photos. The new camera appears to be a little better than the old one.
Danv That shirt would suit you if you walked through Mirrabooka. Probably all the locals would be able to read it LOL!
