My Japanese is comin along beautifully.
I was a bit slow and tender getting out of bed this morning. Im feeling really old. I guess I will be fine when I hit the slopes again this morning. We are going on the shuttle bus to another part of the mountains to try a beginner slope to try to get the hang of skiing. The kids are struggling, of course Im good to go.......hahaha.
Tsugaike-kogen is another village north of here and we are told the slope there is way more beginner friendly. We can get the free shuttle bus and be there in 1/2hr.
I wish we had come here on day one. The place is perfect, huge long runs and a gentle slope for the kids to learn on. This place was made for us so we had to hit the slopes. Chris and Laura both struggled while Kate and I just blitzed it. we got tired of waiting for Chris and Laura so we went again and thought we would pass them again. Sure enough we caught up to them again and they had decided boarding wasnt for them. Laura had had a couple of huge stacks and Chris said his ankle was sore. They walked the second half of the way down. Luckily for us the hire place has a branch right there so they could swap boards for ski's and get back on the snow. Kate and I kept skiing and they were back in no time. Chris had gone up so Kate and I thought we could catch him. Sure enough we did, Kate said "french fries all the way to catch him" and we did cos pizza boy was still getting used to ski's.(french fries and pizza are different styles of skiing. it refers to the ski's and the shape they make. pizza for beginners and french fries for advanced like me)
We all had stacks during the day, and yes I fell off the ski lift again and a little old japanese man had to stand me up again. After that no one would ride the ski lift with me. Everyone got better as the day went on and might even catch up to my level and style by the end of the week. The day was bright and sunny so the slope started to turn to mush by the afternoon so we came home.
We are going back there tomorrow and already there is talk of "exploring" some of the trickier terain. Everyone is heaps more confident. Ash is gonna stay home tomorrow cos she isnt skiing anyway so tomorrow could be huge.
We have some video but you will have to wait till I get home and can edit them down to short versions so I can post them here.

Ngaere Can't take old age -HA? If it hurts you must still be alive. Enjoy today's slopes.
Ngaere Just heard that northern Japan is snowed in. The bullet train was stopped for 6 hours. Has this affected you in any way or is it in another "northern section"?
john Skelton The snow has not affected us at all is is bright and sunny where we are. We could do with some snow cos the sunshine is turning the snow to mush.
