dzasta travels
The flight up was fairly uneventful except for the last couple of hours when Laura got sick. They were just the usual flights with a stopover in KL and then straight to Tokyo.
The taxi I booked was there to meet us and we had to go to Terminal1 to collect another couple who were also from Aus. They had come up on Singapore airlines. The first part of the drive was fairly quiet cos the kids slept a bit since none of us got much sleep on the plane. We had 2 piot stops on the way at fancy truck stops. The first was at a place with more vending machines than you could poke a stick at. (Vending machines are EVERYWHERE here.) They also had the biggest and cleanest toilet I have ever used and they were cookin meat on a stick. What more could you want?
Just before we arrived it started snowing. We checked into the hotel and decided to hire our gear ready for tomorrow. It was snowing a little harderbut the hire place is just across the road so no probs. After hire was sorted we kept walking, looking for somewhere to get food for dinner and to check out the ski area and generally get the lay of the land. The kids were lovin it walkin around in the snow and we had to brush the snow off to go into the shops.
We spent a lot of time in the arvo looking for somewhere to eat that had something Ash could eat. We kept cominhg back to a place we called Yuki Soba but they kept saying closed. I asked when they open and he said 5.30 so I ask what the time is now and he said 4.40. Because we had been up all night and hadnt eaten since 5am it seemed a lot later than that to us.We eventually went back to the hotel for a while and came back at abouit 6. I thought it wasnt worth the wait.
The hotel is really nice but it is very cold out in the snow so we will have to rug up tomorrow.
