dzasta travels
It was a long night last night. I didn't get any sleep but now that I am here I am glad I didn't try to get here at midnite last night cos I would not have found the place. On the directions I have there is a "keep straight on" in them that shouldn't be there. I had to ask the guy in the shop this morning and he didn't know any of the streets in my directions. Luckily there was a young girl buying smokes and she googled it for me. It was no where near where they said it would be but I happened to come across it as I was looking.
I set off for a walk this morning to Hacamel markets, and maybe Jaffa if I felt OK. The markets are about 4km from here but pretty easy to find cos you just follow the bus route. About an hour after I left it started to rain. I have a full wet weather kit, umbrellas and 2 poncho's in my bag safely locked away in my room. I waited the rain out under and awning and thankfully that was the end of it for today.
The markets were nothing special, the same as markets all around the world. I walked through and looked at all the stuff. By that time I was nearly at the beach so I decided to keep going and check out there. Once I got there I could see down to Jaffa, 2.5km away, so I decided to keep going there. Jaffa was the old port for this area but now it is getting a bit trendy and they are doing the place up with cafes and boutiques. They have a flea market there and it is well named, it is just old rubbish. I had lunch there, tost. they don't have toast it is tost. I had stinky cheese and tomato (decided I should have some fruit) in a toasted roll. It was pretty good but a little expensive.
I didn't do much else cos of the late night. I am now trying to stay awake for a bit longer so I don't wake up too early tomorrow.
I got lost on the walk back. I should have turned left 2 streets after Menachim Begin street and I kept going for a lot of blocks before I realized I was wrong. Going through the markets I couldnt help myself and bought a couple of T shirts and some thongs.
Tomorrow I am going to catch the train from here to Jerusalem and try to find somewhere reasonable to stay.
Well that was a pain. I was in bed in my room when a guy came to see me. He said I could only have the room for 2 nights but I would still have to pay for 3 nights for 2 people. He wanted 470NIS. I told him the woman this morning said I could have 1 night and the price was on the internet. I checked and the price was 90nis. He went to see her and came back and said the 470nis still stands so I told him where to shove it and said I would leave. I am ****** off cos I could have found something today but I had to walk down town with mu big pack and look as I went. I found one that charges by the hour!! The price was a little too high. This place I just walked in and found a spot so it will have to do for tonight.
