I came to an "all inclusive resort" for a change. It is expensive but so far worth it. The room I am in is the best room I have ever had anywhere in the world. It has sitting area with TV, huge bathroom and comfortable bed. All meals and drinks are covered so I'm trying to get my money's worth. It is a long way out of Hurghada so there is nothing to do here but relax on the beach, swim and sit around drinking beer. I will try to make the most of if for a couple of days.
They serve the beer in the smallest plastic cups you have ever seen. Yesterday the barman gave me one and I sculled it and said another please. I sculled it and said another please. I sculled it and said another please so then he found me a glass.
The Coral Beach Resort is massive. The food is not great but it is passable. The beach is not great but it is passable. Overall I think the place is pretty good and it is good to relax for a couple of days and not have to look for transport, hotel or food.
I've had a great couple of days relaxing. They have a lagoon here with a very degraded reef and lots of reef fist and it was fun snorkelling around it. The garfish are so bright blue. It has been fun with nothing to do but it is time to hit the road again. I'm heading into town for a couple of days then I'm heading north to Pt Said and Alexandria.
I'm in town after a few mixups with the taxi. Mustafa, my driver, finally got me and I'm at Bob Marley Hotel. Massive dose of reality. The room is let's say different? Today I have to get bus ticket to Pt Said for tomorrow and some new thongs, the current ones have a hole in them.
Today I spent the day just walking around looking at the place. There is not much to see. Hurghada is all about the ocean. Package tours from Europe and Russia come here to go diving, glass bottom boat and just enjoy the beach. Even in town there are huge resorts all along the coast that block access to the ocean. If your not staying there you can't use the beach. Tourism is way down. Heaps of shops and hotels are closed even whole shopping centres. The riots in 2011 and 2013 didn't help and there have been more attacks on tourists here in Hurgada since then. This has been a good thing for me cos there are not many touts to contend with. The problem now it the shopkeepers. They "just want to talk". I just tell them I didn't spend a lot of money and come half way around the world to stand around talking to dickheads.
I got my bus ticket, I'm going back to Cairo, cos it is easier to get to Pt Said. So I got thongs and a bus ticket and managed to get photos of tithe local mosque and Coptic church so massive day by me. I'm relaxing in the Cacao bar cos it is happy hour so 25% off and internet better than hotel.

Ape Poor shopkeepers trying to be friendly. Please try to be NICE. Glad you relaxed and took time out in an upper class hotel. Stay safe. Xx
John They are no the trying to be friendly they are trying to sell me s*** that I don't want. If I stood and talked to everyone I would have no time for anything else. They have nowhere to go so it is fine for them but I'm here to explore.
Ngaere Glad you enjoyed the rest. Look after your new thongs. Travel safe. X
