If I could change this s***ty site I would but I'm stuck with it for now.
Today I went to the West Bank. It is pretty much a cemetery for anyone who is anyone in old Egypt. They are all buried down here, Amenhotep, a whole bunch of the Ramses, Hatshepsut and of course Tutankhamen. All the tombs were robbed at some stage, mostly just after the pharaoh was buried. The ONLY tomb ever found intact was Tutankhamen and his stuff is now all over the world. His tomb is also the only one with the mummy still in it. You will have to take my word for all of that cos you are not allowed photos anywhere on the site even outside the tombs. They are pretty spectacular considering they are 3500 years old and have never been repainted.
Then we went to the funeral temple of Hatshepsut. The only female pharaoh. All the statues of her she is wearing a fake beard. Her temple was just about destroyed so what is there now has been rebuilt, to look the same and I didn't think it was very impressive.
Ramses III, however was very impressive. He funeral temple is one of the better preserved and is covered in hieroglyphics. It is a massive site and I could have taken hundreds of pics.
After these we had the obligatory stop at the Alabaster shop then overpriced lunch. It was a good day and I'm glad I took the tour. I was going to walk but it really is miles. It has been hot here in Egypt, we have been in the 40s every day but I really havnt noticed it as that bad. I can feel it is hot but it hasn't worried me at all.
Tomorrow I am going to Karnak then I will finish the blog on Luxor. Then Sat I'm on the bus to Hurgada for some R&R at the beach.

Ken Hurgada.....full of Russians Johnny. That's where we boarded our diveboat to dive the Red Sea. Just a wee tip, don't go into a bar and order a Margerita like my wife did cos you'll end up with a Pizza.....like SHE did!
