Cheaper isn't always better!!!
Something I have found out the hard way.
Since leaving MF Global in April, I have begun to appreciate the cost and more importantly the utility of the things I purchase. It also probably won't surprise people to know that this appreciation has been inversely proportional to the balance in my bank account!!!
I would imagine that some people would also see some sort of justice in an ex-investment banker having to watch his pennies - or rupees, cents, dong and other weird and wonderful currencies as it will probably be for the next year!!!
So with this in mind, rather than shell out for haircuts over the next year, I invested in a set of hair clippers. These would allow me to keep my hair short in the humidity of SE Asia as well as to sport a George Michael stubble in the Himalayas.
I did the research online, read the instructions, and correlated the settings on the clippers with hair length required. I thought I had it covered, Leah was slightly nervous but keen to help and so the buzzing began!!
Leah very sensibly suggested to use the longest setting and work our way down to my required length.
My suspicions were first aroused that all was not quite right when I heard the line - "it looks a little short!"
I had made one tiny, weeny, ickle mistake. I hadn't told Leah which way round to hold the clippers!! So rather than the funky, clever gadget on the clippers keeping a nice uniform length, the shortness was determined by how close Leah held the clippers to my
head!!!!
