Mount Doom
End of day two in the Tongariro National Park. A quite easy day with only four hours of walking through some forests and then over a couple of ridges. This is the land of Lord of the Rings, so imagine the first film's scenery...
The last hour didn't feel quite as easy walking through the volcanic rock with a bit of a scramble up a steep climb. Think Frodo's trip up Mount Doom. But now that my little toes are taped up nicely, I am sure that they will be fine tomorrow for the long, hard, final day up to the top of Mount Ngaurhoe aka Mount Doom.
