Had a lazy morning in Vientiane and made our way to the airport for our flight to Hanoi. Nice plush seats, snacks, beer, no sooner were we up than we were down. Bit of a climate change with temperatures down from 30c to about 18c with a steady drizzle. Wow is this city busy. Traffic chaotic. Every moment we looked out of the bus window there were near misses. Our minibus could not get close to the hotel because of traffic so we loaded our backpacks onto a tuk tuk and walked to the hotel. Great room, fantastic atmosphere outside. So busy! Cyclos, mopeds, street sellers, hawkers. We are just down the road from Beer Corner! I did not arrange this, honestly! We walked up to a Bia Noi place and they put out plastic chairs- IN THE ROAD - for us to sit on while the traffic drove around us drinking one day old beer. Seven beers for a pound. I've written it so you don't think I have made a mistake. Took out 2,000,000 dong at the airport - £60. Crazy economy. You have no idea how busy it is. People washing up for restaurants in the street. Had a great meal, more westernised than in Laos. Found a nice French bar for a few minutes r & r before hitting the streets back to the hotel. A day in the city tomorrow.
