Up early again! Had a white water rafting trip. I had planned to get the really late bus south afterwards, but realised that I could just get dropped at the earlier bus from where the rafting was so that I could get down to Townsville and a reasonable time, so that was good!
The rafting was awesome, was in a raft with other lone travellers - a swiss guy, 2 english girls, an irish girl and an older korean man. It was really good, although I was pretty terrified at the start haha, didn't realise how scary it would be! After I got into it it wasn't so bad, great fun. There were some bits that were really scary - at one point we flipped the boat and I got stuck in a current type thing and was a bit worried I wouldn't get back up! There was also a point where everyone was jumping off a big rock - only 4metres but I freaked out a little bit...was peer pressured into it and survived but that was almost scarier than the skydive! Haha, so much for being able to do anything after jumping out of a plane! We had a really nice BBQ lunch as well which was awesome. After the rafting they brought us to a bar in Tully, where I ended up buying the photos of the day which are pretty cool but were definitely overpriced...
Went from there to catch the Greyhound down to my next stop, Townsville! It was a fairly long journey, but I just watched some OC and listened to music, it wasn't too bad. Arrived in Townsville to realise I had no idea how to get to my hostel though...ended up talking to another backpacker, a german girl called Alina who was nice, and hadn't booked anything. We waited for a bus for ages, then realised it still wasn't coming for another 40mins, so decided to try walking! It turned out to be pretty far away which was a bit of a melt, got an australian guy to show us most of the way, but we were shattered by the time we got there! After all that, the hostel was full! But luckily they were really nice and found Alina a bed somewhere else and dropped her there.
Got a surprise in the hostel to find out I was in the same room as the two german girls from my room in Gilligans, Julia and Christina! It was pretty cool though, and the other girl in my room was also german and called Jacky - turned out that she was going to the same hostel as me the next day! I was staying at Civic Guesthouse and it was really nice, very clean and free wifi which was pretty sweet. Had planned to meet Alina for a drink a bit later on but I ended up so tired and it was a bit of a walk on my own into town so I just left it and had an early night!
