UNITED KINGDOM - DAY 13
We left Warwick and travelled towards London, stopping in Cotswolds where we viewed the gravesite of Sir Winston Churchill. It was a tiny church and there were quite a few of his family members buried there. He wanted a very plain grave. No headstone or anything.
We then headed into Oxford, the oldest university city in England. It was certainly full of young university students. We discovered that students who attend Oxford, have a tutor (professor) who basically is responsible for one to two students. So this means that there are almost as many professors as students in Oxford university.
We were taken on a tour of the city and introduced to a variety of architecture. We climbed the steps to the top of the Sheldonian Theatre. We got to see all of Oxford from this great vantage point. We saw various groups dance traditional folk dances, street performers and lots of other things. Our newlyweds left us in Oxford and we all waved goodbye.
We arrived in London about three in the afternoon and we all went our separate ways. I hope we can keep in touch with some of the group.
We booked into our hotel and then Pasqual and I headed out with two suitcases full of washing. We sat around waiting for our washing to be done and in walked three Irishmen. Yes I know, it sounds just like the beginning of a joke. We watched in amusement as they filled one of the washing machines with their laundry and powder only for one of the them to key in the wrong washing machine number. so they transferred the washing to the correct machine and shut the door only for the machine to start without any powder, which they scooped out with their fingers and put into the washing machine. We got talking to them and had a good laugh at their laundry abilities.
