ITALY - DAY 7
Today we left Rome behind and headed towards the Amalfi Coast. Along the way our tour director entertained us with tales of Italy. For example, the white lines on the road are only a guide. People can choose whether or not they stick to a lane or drive down the middle of the road. It's the same with red lights and zebra crossings. You take your life into your own hands if you don't watch drivers very carefully.
We arrived at our hotel in a town of Castellammare di Stabia. Boy oh boy, what a dive. The hotel is quiet nice but the environment lacks something. Some of the group were going on a drive along the Amalfi Coast so we hitched a ride and were dropped off in Sorrento for several hours to wander around.
It was beautiful. A lot of the shops were closed for siesta but the whole place had a real quaint feel. We wandered around and snapped photos of anything interesting that caught our eye. The streets were very narrow with shops on both sides.
We made our way towards the coast and stood looking down and out onto the Bay of Naples. The sand on the beaches were black and I hazard a guess, very hot on your feet. We were informed the water would still be a little chilly but there were people brave enough to venture in.
The shops started to open again and we headed back in, with crowds beginning to grow to find the best ice cream ever. The lady who served us was lovely. She spent time to create a cute character with each of our ice creams which the girls just loved and she let us sit at the cafe without having to pay extra money.
