Left at 6am heading for Bolivian border. What a @!? one entrance at immigration for both incoming and outgoing. A French tourist got into a squabble with a Bolivian and had a fist fight. I was grabbed by one of the French. They were really rude and impatient. After 2 hours were got our passports stamped and exited Argentina. Tupiza is a quiet little town amidst desert landscapes. The altitude is 2990 metres. Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid planned to settle in Santa Cruz Bolivia and needed one last job to finance their ranch so in 1908 they rolled into Tupiza to rob the Mining Office but things went wrong. Authorities chased and cornered them into a final shoot out where both died. Had tea at the Alamo, cheap meals and really a great atmosphere.
7th March
Triathlon Day - Jeep ride through Canyons, 8km downhill mountain bike ride from 3990 meters to 2990 meters then a 4km ride back to town, then 3 hour horse ride to see the sunset over this amazing landscape. Jenny fell off her bike and had 21 stitches under her chin, Trav was bucked off his horse, Kate has altitude sickness, Danny the driver smashed his finger with a hammer and cut his head open and Kylie is suffering with fluid retention.
Over all an action packed day.
