Last day in Lima. Our hotel was only 3 blocks from the Plaza de Armas which had the City Hall, the Archiepiscopal Palace, Government Palace and the Catedral. We then went to Plaza San Martin. After lunch I did a city tour which started at Miraflores. Known for its shopping areas, gardens, flower-filled parks and beaches, it is one of the upscale districts that make up the city of Lima. Arrived at Paracas Harbour at 10am and boarded our speed boat and headed out to the Ballestos Islands. We saw pelicans, dolphins, sea lions, birds and penguins. There was a distinct smell of the animals. Easter Sunday Headed for Huacachina which is a tiny resort village with a Palm fringed oasis amid sand dunes. The small lagoon is featured on the S/50. The murky waters supposedly have curative properties. Some went sand boarding but I opted for a walk around the oasis and a swim in the pool. 9th April Going to Ballestos Island today then farewell lunch to Michael and Jill and Lima.

7th Apri Left at 7am and stopped at the Chauchilla Cemetary which dates back to AD 1000. You can see Nazca bones, skulls and mummies. Until recently these bones were scattered haphazardly across the desert, left by ransacking grave robbers. They have been carefully rearranged inside 12 tombs. Left Arequipa at 7.30am heading for Puerto Inca. Lost again. Arrived in Mollendo at 11am no connecting road to Camana. Have to turn around wasted at least 3 hours. Arrived at 9pm set up camp and had tea after 10.30pm. We are camped on a surf beach, no lifeguards, there is a swimming pool but only motel guests can use.
