We left Penang by catching the free ferry to the mainland of Butterworth. We headed straight to the bus station and booked tickets for the next bus to Taiping pronounced "Tie-Ping"

It was only an hour bus ride which was a nice change!! We decided to go here as they have a night safari and seemed to be a nice little town.

The bus stopped just outside the main town so we had to get a taxi into the town. We asked him to take us to the 'Peking Hotel'. When we arrived they said they were full , which we thought was very strange as we seemed to be the only tourists in the town. He then explained there was a local election and all the hotels are full with journalists.

We thought we would be able to find somewhere.... however this town only had 4 hotels and they were all full.

Luckily it was only 2pm so we got a taxi to the bus station and got on a bus to the next town of Ipoh.

Hopefully will have more luck there...!!!!
