Four Thousand Islands... The most relaxing place in the world...or is that the most RELAXED place in the world...
When we(finally )got to Don Det (we were told 2hours....it took 3 and a half )on our rickity tuktuk/jeep thing (we were told wed be getting a bus) and across the river on a small boat..... it was well worth the wait
For four days we did...NOTHING!! Well, unless you call laying in a hammock and drinking Beer Lao exciting? Actually it was pretty awesome....
We stayed in a small bamboo hut for less than 3 pounds per night with a shared bathroom and a gorgeous view of the Mekong River
We could both fit in the hammock which was pretty comfortable!!! The electricity goes out at 10pm everynight so we bought candles and sat on our balcony
Its a hard life!
There must be some rule in Laos that says the further south you go the more relaxed it becomes
I mean its great to be laid back and all....but the restaurants in Don Det....theyre very ..... interesting.....
Our first meal (we went out with Robert and Joris) took one hour before any food came out....we had ordered steak...they brought TWO out and the English guy who owned this restaurant came out and said
'Guys,in true Laos tradition....Theyve f*** up" (BTW Dom and I dont believe him, we think he was the one who f****up as he cant speak Laos and can only say Kob Chai Lei Lei)
so Joris and Robert had their dinners whilst Dom and i watched them eat, mouths watering, and waited ANOTHER HOUR because the chef didnt have enough steaks....
why would it take an HOUR to tell us this?
And so we had to order something else....so two hours we were waiting to eat (not like The boars nest, eh mum?)it wasnt even worth the wait!!Haha
you gotta laugh !!!
All of the restaurants here were as bad too...ok maybe not quite as bad as that , but you would easily be waiting an hour for food, even when youre the only people in the place....
