So, while the girls and Gaston CamperVan stay behind - I return to Auckland via a quick flight and head into town to (outskirts really) to find my hotel and the venue - both of which were accomplished quite easily thanks to a) Auckland having a good transport system and b) being quite small.
With a few hours to kill I ended up where else but in a a pub! Specifically the splendidly named Galbraith's Alehouse where the beer was superb (as were the pies. Quite bizzarrre really the pub was populated with hordes of black clad NZ goths, a few normal music fans and 'old boy' regulars. Anyways - a top place and one I hope to return to one day.
Handily the venue was just over the road so shortly before 8 there I am tkt in hand and about to see the Girls on another continent!
Great venue, lots of smoke, good sound and a happy audience - bumped into a couple of people from a Sisters forum I'm on - (bit too goth for my liking) and before you know it, lights down, smoke on and it's Ribbons.
Set concluded with Lucreatia, Top Nite Out and T.O.L. and off to find the hotel. So happy that I got to see them again (fate).
Next day all went to plan, I caught the plane back to Wellington, on time arrival, rendezvous with J&J and Gaston Campervan and we're off to get the ferry over to the South Island.
Respect due to Jayne for navigating Gaston to from the campsite/airport!
(retrospective entry as I never completed this while we were away)
