We have found the Amsterdam buildings very unique and interesting. Lots of them have signs saying they were built in 1600's. That's very old. Many of the buildings tend to lean backwards or forwards or sideways. Must be on shaky foundations. No skyscrapers just old buildings mostly three storeys high. The doorways are very narrow and stairs steep. Any furniture has to be lifted up on a pulley and through a window. All buildings have a hoisting hook right at the top. It is enjoyable walking along the canals looking at all the different facades. You have to be careful walking along the narrow footpaths and watch out for parked bikes or moving ones. Everyone rides a bike and no lycra in sight. They are very inventive with a variety of carrying methods. Lots of wagons for carrying the children or groceries. Yesterday we watched a lady try to load two dining chairs onto the back of her bike - interesting.

Joanne Selby Sounds very interesting it's good you have time to explore. So glad you are taking in all the sights.. I think the special stick will come in handy, thank goodness for Aldi!
