Spoke to Matt this morning to say Happy Birthday, he is feeling confident that the Hawks can have another win.
We have been experiencing windy weather and waves up to 4.5 metres. The ship has been rocking a little but nothing too disturbing. Today we are in Constanta, Romania. We took the courtesy shuttle into the city and though the bus went round and round we ended up not very far from the port. The maps they provide are pretty useless but do show points of interest which is useful. We walked to Ovid Square and saw lots of ruins, Roman of course. It was about 10am but no one was around except tourists. There seemed to be plenty of cafés near the square but none open. Again lots of construction zones but no one working on any of the buildings. To find our way down to the Black Sea further around from where the ship was docked we had to weave between areas that were being paved. The workers just stood there as we stepped over string lines and walked around groups of men looking at the paving but not working too hard. It was nice down next to the water where the paving had been completed, you could walk alongside the sea on a wide
promenade. There were gardens, gazebos and statues (no one well known) and a light house memorial to the Genoese sailors. We saw a very ornate Orthodox Church, a very plain Catholic Church and a rich person's house with sculptured lions called The Lion House. We walked up to the shopping area but nothing of interest there so we caught the shuttle back for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. Internet is expensive on the boat so can't see why they had a statue of Romulus and Remus.
