What an incredible experience! We were escorted by an amazing guide who left us in awe of the Roman civilisation and it's many achievements. We were given many insights into what must have been a highly developed society.

The tour included the coloseum, the forum, the ancient ruins and finally the Circus maximus, each more incredible than the last!

After 3hours we were tired and needing of a rest. We met up with the others for lunch before taking a 1 hour train trip to Tivoli where we were able to experience even more grandeur. Tivoli estate was the home of the famous Borge family.

It includes the enormous palatial residence and beautiful gardens located overlooking the entire region. We were left in awe of the opulence and beauty of the estate.

As it was getting late we decided to have dinner in Tivoli.

The piazza was full of people sitting around talking, watching the children play and enjoying the evening. For the first time in my life I saw what a real community must be like. We walked the lane ways full of people and I felt a part of a nurturing, enveloped community, something I had never experienced.

It made me wish I could stay longer.

We ate dinner in the piazza before catching the train back to Rome.
