We left Dubai this morning heading to Rome. We arrived Fumicino airport 2.30pm and experienced a true Roman welcome. 400 people were herded like animals at an abbottoir thru only 3 passport checkpoints. Tempers became heated and it took as over an hour to have our passports stamped. Welcome to Rome where service is virtually non-existent.

We were picked up and taken to our apartment located Via Carlo Alberto close to Termini station. It consists of 5 bedrooms each with its own keys,bathroom, air, bar fridge & safe. It is on the 3rd floor and our window faces a central courtyard. It's just what u would expect to see in an old Movie set in Rome!

After settling in we went for a walk and reached the Spanish steps as the photo shows. We had dinner at a small ristorante and I had bucatini matriciano and saltimbucco alla romana. How's that for sampling the local cuisine!

We sampled the gelato in the piazza Venezia and returned to the apartment after a long and eventful day.
