Camping at McGrath State Beach-
So, apparently, in the summer on the california coast on the weekends, you have to make reservations to camp on the beach! Who would have thunk it...so we kept driving north, past LA, past Malibu, to Oxnard...home of Ventura, CA and McGrath State Beach. Why was no one at this park you ask? Everyone thought it was closed, since it was one of many that was supposed to...but since they came in 5th in the nation in a contest for coca cola, CA threw them enough money to stay open :) yay
Good ol' Em-Dog met us there, giving us the perfect dose of closeness and distance at the same time. We camped just over the sand dunes by the beach, had fire, food, music and booze and of course, a great time. To our dismay, the sun did not shine again for 2 days. So rather than lounge on the beach all day, we went into town to cath the end of a surfing contest and grab some champagne and cheese to celebrate the last day of our journey. We took pics, acted ridiculous, and brought back more food and booze for the festivities around the fire.
Before hitting the road for the last time, we foudn Mrs. Otis's coffee hut, a local favorite, for one more unhealthy brunch lol. So delicious it was almost coma inducing. Cheesy potatoes, you are the devil.
Thanks to Emily for having some fun with us...definitely a great way to end our trip <3
