San Diego!!!
Lucky for us, we had Erik, (Amy's bro) to offer us a place to stay for the few days we got to spend in SoCal. We went to the Tap Room as soon as we got there for a cold one and a burger after the GMen V. In the morning, we went straight to Kono's for a way too big breakfast burrito on the beach. Unfortunately, the weather was not feeling very "paradise-y," so we drove through PB, Ocean Beach and Mission Beach. By the time the sun started to peak, we made it to the gaslamp district to walk around, do some shopping, and then hit up old town for a margarita Fred's. Being taco tuesday and all, we met back up w/Erik in PB, went to longboard's for a quick bite and then supported the Black Pearl in their (almost) victorious softball game. As per Tuesday rituals, we then went to the Black Pearl for tacos and darts. Good times, great people.
The next day we got lunch with Erik and Eric after checking out the Blue Grace hub. We messed around for a while before heading back to PB to walk down to the beach. Since again the sun was feeling shy, we hit up Lahaina's for a drink instead. We decided to cook for the lovely Jenn and Ashley (as well as ourselves of course) and had dinner and drinks at the house. Again, good time, great people.
After doing some much needed laundry, and sleeping in of course, we headed up to La Jolla caves. The southern cali coast is so awesome. Eventually we made our way over to El Coronado Island, where we finally got to relax on the beach in the sun. We grabbed happy hour at the bar of El Coronado Hotel and embraced the scenery. We couldn't stay forever, though (mostly because the hotel is 300 bucks per night) and got back into town just in time for a sneak peak of PJ20 in Kensington, a documentary about Pearl Jam's 20 years together. E won tickets through the radio to the exclusive and intimate showing and it was awesome. After a tiring week, we grabbed some lasagna at Ricki and Shelly's and called it a night.
So good to see you Erik, Jenn and Ashley! E- it's nice to be in the same time zone, thanks for everything and we will see you soon! xo!
