From Cuenca we took a 6 hour bus to the city of Loja in southern Ecuador where we were transferring to an overnight bus into Peru. Unfortunately, it was during the waiting time between the two busses that Ashley had her handbag nicked. Thankfully nothing of vital importance was in it but there were some valuables stolen and we had a lot of trouble communicating with the police! We met a group of English people who went to great lengths to help us with the whole situation, and agreed to meet up with them when we were in Peru.

The overnight bus was better than expected and we arrived in the city of Piura at about 7.30am. We spent a couple of days here exploring the city but it wasn´t the best of cities to say the least!! We did enjoy some very good food and fantastic sangria to help lift our moods after 13 hours of busses and being robbed. We received an email from our new friends recommending the beach town of Máncora so promptly decided to take another bus journey to meet them there.
