Arriving in Nazca at 6am we decided to book up a plane tour over the Nazca lines for the same morning. The lines are a series of shapes and images (whale, monkey, 'owl man', condor, hummingbird, parrot and a dog to name a few)cut into the desert by the Nazca culture hundreds of years ago. Due to a mistake by the tour operator we were put on two different planes which was both annoying and a little unnerving for Ashley who has a fear of heights. The views of the lines from the plane were amazing with some of the images hundreds of feet in size however the journey was quite rough as it consisted of many tight turns and twists to allow everyone on the plane to get a good view. Despite taking advice not to eat breakfast beforehand Ashley felt a little rough being thrown around in the air by a slightly suicidal peruvian pilot. After the 40 minute flight we spent a couple of hours in Nazca (it was rubbish!) before heading to the desert oasis of Huacachina.
