Didier Moutia's Travels
Today we explored Litchfield National Park. First stop was Wangi Falls. This is the big draw card of Litchfield. The falls are impressive, there was lots of water coming through both waterfalls. Unfortunately the plunge pool was closed so we could not swim here.
Next stop Florence Waterfall. This place is awesome, the waterfalls are also impressive, not as a high as Wangi but the plunge pool is large and we swam here for hours. There was also lots of fish in the pool, we could not identify them but they did swim close to us. We think this place is better than Wangi Falls even if you could swim at Wangi.
Soon we left Florence and went to Buley Rockhole. Buley Rockhole is a number of rock pools which cascade. Some rockholes are only as big as one/two people, others are as big as a home swimming pool. We found one that was deep and allowed us to have fun diving into it. We were here for ages also. Unfortunately if you have a caravan you cannot park at Buley as the car park is quite small.
We left Litchfield for our new camp ground, Litchfield Tourist Park. The new campsite is so much better than last night's camp site, it has a restaurant, modern shower/toilets and a good sized pool. You guessed it … as soon as we had lunch we hit the pool. We spent all afternoon there and played with 3 girls our age from Manly in Sydney. The girls are almost identical ages to us.
What a great day. Dad said today even though this has been an outback dessert holiday we have not swam so much ever on a family holiday.
Tomorrow we head for Kakadu. Mum and Dad want to check out Adelaide River on the way as it has some cool history and we only saw a bit of the town when coming through it yesterday.
