Didier Moutia's Travels
We started today at Kings Creek Station. Last night we tried the pool but it was freezing! That did not stop us trying to swim! This resort is cool, we are basically staying in the desert. The Station is a working cattle station but with lots of other animals like camels, horses and even a donkey. We watched the donkey try and boss the camels around before they totally lost it with him and chased the donkey into another part of the enclosure. The best part was having dinner together last night and having lots of laughs. We dropped some food on the ground and from the footprints this morning it seemed that the dingos cleaned up for us.
We did the Kings Canyon Rim walk today. It is 5.5kms … thank goodness it was not as long as the Base Walk at Uluru. Olivier called our walk 'delightful' … he was not serious of course but secretly we know he liked it. Loic loved the walk, especially the wind that kept the heat down and flies away. The Cliffs were gigantic and at one point we even crossed a crevasse in the rock to get to a lookout. We visited the ‘Garden of Eden’ which is a gorge that contains some ferns that go back to the dinosaurs. We wanted to go for a swim but you are not allowed sadly. It was a great walk and we had an awesome time.
On the way home we dropped back into Kings Creek Station. Some local aborigines had some honey ants. These ants store honey in their abdomen. My brothers and I dared Dad to eat it and we were shocked when he did. He reckons it tastes like honey but we think he is lying! We also got a chance to buy an aboriginal painting at Mt Ebenezer for an awesome price from the artist himself.
Finally after 5 hours we arrived at our camp site for the next two days. This place is EPIC. It has a 25 metre water slide, jumping pillows, heated pools and even a games room. We are looking forward to spending a couple of nights here!
So far we have travelled over 1,500kms!
