Didier Moutia's Travels
Dad tells us that so far we have seen the lower and middle parts of Kakadu. Today we are heading to the top part. I never knew how big Kakadu was. It is massive.
We first came across Jabiru. I was expecting it to be a lot busier and bigger than it was. We knew it would be quiet because of ANZAC day. However it was very small and I think it would not be much different on a normal weekday. Dad thinks Doonside shops is more busy and exciting.
We did not hang around long and headed towards Ubirr. Like the Anbangbang site, Ubirr is an aboriginal rock art site. Ubirr has more paintings and of different ages to the ones we saw at the Anbangbang site. We saw heaps of art but the one dad thought was amazing was the painting of a Tasmanian Tiger. Dad was amazed to think that someone painted this after seeing a Tasmanian Tiger around Kakadu. This is before they became extinct on the mainland. That is pretty cool.
While at Ubirr we went to the lookout. It was awesome. None of us expected to see such amazing scenery. It was really beautiful.
Soon we were back on the road headed to Darwin. We stopped at a bunch of random places along the way. Dad made us pose with a big plastic crocodile. It was really embarrassing!
We finally made it to our accommodation for the next 3 nights. It is a huge apartment close to the Wharf in Darwin. It is a big difference to our campervan. The lounge room is as big as our whole camper. Today was the first time we did not finish the day with a swim. We will make up for it tomorrow!
