Didier Moutia's Travels
This morning we were meant to go on an aboriginal tour but there was a mix up. Good news is that we got to spend more time in the pool!
After a few hours in the pool we decided to go and see some ancient aboriginal rock art. Kakadu has a few places which have rock art, some even as old as 10,000 years! We visited a few caves at the Anbangbang site which is known by the incorrect name Nourlangie. It was so cool to see the paintings so close and the signs around the walk helped us to make sense of the paintings.
Soon we were back at Cooinda and taking our sunset cruise on Yellow Water. No one knows why the billabong is called Yellow Water. On the cruise we saw heaps of birds but also quite a few salt water crocodiles. A large crocodile called Max spent quite a lot of time around our boat and we even saw it eat a fish. We saw a lot of smaller crocodiles but they were scared off quickly by our boat. Our favourite animal was the Jesus bird, it is called the Jesus bird because it looks like it walks on water. That was not why we liked the bird, when we saw one it had its small babies with it and they were really cute.
On the boat trip the boy behind us was telling riddles, Olivier tried to tell him one which was rude but luckily mum caught him just in time before he gave the answer!
To finish a great day we had dinner with out new friends and played with them afterwards. They are headed to Jabiru tomorrow too!
