Taking a break from walking the streets. Very warm today and as Peter says "the sights you see when you don't have a gun".
We toured the Prado museum...the early 1400's and 1500's were fairly dark & religious on themes for the paintings and then you get into the erotic ones. Supposedly they were Adam & Eve, Venus and Madonna and Child but .... erotic for such religious topics. Many galleries -both of the old and very modern sculptures & paintings.
On our tour earlier we saw palaces, gov't buildings, churches, shops and even the Musee de Jambe. Loosely translated it's the Ham museum. Guess that could rival our Gopher museum just outside Calgary.
Even though we're almost right downtown there are lots of people walking. It's great to see couples, families and friends strolling about just enjoying the day.
There are the usual overpriced shops & souvenir stands so shopping has been limited. Who needs another t-shirt? Give me something unusual & then maybe I'll consider it.
Have to get ready for our cocktail party and the "meet and greet" for our main tour, then it's off for some paella and Spanish wine.
