The painted plates shown in the picture are everywhere. Painted tiles are on a lot of buildings as decoration now but they helped people identify their homes years ago. The street signs are all on the side of buildings so I'd think they'll stay the same names forever.
Brightly colored paintings and embroidery is everywhere. The linens are also beautiful. So much shopping so little space.
Even though gas is expensive the taxis are not. It certainly is an adventure riding in one but it's easier to get around. Lots of people around now because the America Cup is starting tomorrow just north of here.
There are great areas here to wander around and visit shops,museums and check out the local restaurants. So many outdoor cafes and they all want you to sit down. When you're seated and you receive a basket of bread...sometimes you get charged by the slice of bread or each bun. Most places are fine and they just want your business. We have eaten some very good food. Lots of seafood,chicken and pork.
