Just about got blown away! Not hard to imagine Vasco de Gama boarding his ship to find the Indes or whatever riches he could find. Carvings of artichokes are everywhere when you see the tombs and statues of the explorers as that was their source of vitamin C. They stayed fresh longer and packed more punch for their size than citrus fruit.
