Delicious breakfast at the hotel - fresh fruit and croissants. Off to tourist information to get our bus tickets. Purchased 2 day tour package including hop on hop off, river cruise on the St Lawrence, and Montmorceny falls will keep us busy for the next few days. Started with city tour to get good overview of the city. Excellent tour of the city ...well narrated.
Decided to head down to Quartier Petit Champlain - a historic neighbourhood in the Lower Town area of Old Quebec. Started with some delicious crepes so we keep up our energy for shopping. Located on Rue du Petit-Champlain, it is the iconic central street of the district. Enjoyed walking around, taking in the sights, and admiring all of the heritage buildings and scenery. The area is a photographers dream! We were fascinated by the narrow alleyways, wrought iron staircase, impressive art murals, and brightly painted doors and window frames. There are lots of stores selling souvenirs, specialty items by local artists and craftspeople, jewelry, clothing, items for the home, and so on. We all had some shopping sucess!
Fresque du Petit-Champlain - We came across a huge mural on the side of one of the buildings on Rue du Petit-Champlain. This fresco illustrates the milestones of the Quebec working class people that have lived in Cap-Blanc (the waterfront neighbourhood) throughout history.
Back to the hotel for an afternoon rest and reboot. Wandered down to the Quebec parliament gardens which has amazing flowers and a unique fountain. Went for supper At l'Atelier - good food, and two pitchers of Sangria :) Back to Saint Jean street for a bit more shopping. We are all bagged now....back to the hotel for a night cap. Tommorow - more touring and will find some night life suitable for young women like ourselves.
