Today is a Wanaka day. This morning we were hoping to take kayaks out on the big lake (by the way did you know it is something like 311m deep and about 192sq km???) - unfortunately the clouds were coming in, and the wind was steadily picking up so we ended up calling that off. After yesterday's walking tracks, today's road journey is taking us further into the southern alps, through places such as Pleasant Flat, and the Gates of Haast - sort of a natural river flow control passed the town of... Haast of course, made up essentially of fallen rocks of the surrounding mounts.
