Adventures of a Global Wanderer
The Buda side of the Danube has a long bike path running the entire length. I've walked it a few times but today I got to bike it with some diversions.
The path is busy with tourists, couples, and families out biking.
After passing by the Palace and Chain Bridge I passed by Rudas baths further down. There is an original Turkish dome and a many extensions that have been added to make the building much longer
Passing by the green steel Gellert Bridge I wanted to goto the Gellert hotel to see the outdoor spa in the rear.
After the Gellert bridge the path seems to end but I saw an interesting law courts building
I backtracked and went to the rear of the Rudas baths to see the Turkish portion more clearly. I remember another Turkish bath nearby from my last two visits but I couldn't find it this time
On the Gellert Bridge I could see the white Elizabeth Bridge by the Rudas baths and a span of the Danube. There were many tourists and some were sitting or walking on the lower portions of the steel beams
On the other side is a large indoor covered market that looks like a train station from the outside. My friend had been staying near when he visited Budapest for 2 days last week and mentioned it to me. I'd heard about the large cheese markets from the other students so wanted to check it out
It was a bit touristy but I didn't see any cheese. It was mostly fruit, vegetables, salami, and some alcohol. It is Victorian in its brick and steel design
Back outside the bike lanes were now in the middle of the street with traffic. I wasnt sure if I was allowed or if I needed to wear a helmet so I moved back to the sidewalk, I remember a Turkish restaurant here from when I met my friend last week so parked my bike
Today I noticed an oven where they were baking things. Star Kebabs is Turkish owned and has a couple of locations in the city. I believe their food is halal with all the Quranic writing and Turkish staff.
My meal was 1000Ft ($5) and donars are 700Ft ($3.50)
