Made it up to Airlee Beach with boys on the overnight bus. Kate went up on a different one and Soph, Rach and Jonnas drove up in the car. All met up in Magnums, which was the delightful snake infested hostel that we were all staying in!! Went over to the Lagoon and chilled there. It was overcast and we were all so tired from the bus that we fell asleep and woke up a little pink!! ok burnt!! Not good before heading out on a boat for 3 days! Anyway had a few drinks at our hostel and got some pizza before heading off to bed as had to be up early next morning to catch our yacht!! There were only 14 of us on board and our group made up 9 so was so much fun. Boat was called the card and was 90ft too so plenty of room. Each had our own little bed below deck! I was on top bunk which was fine but Kate was on bottom which was a bit like a coffin! The food on the boat was amazing and regular snacks like nachos! so you can imagine my excitement! and it was all made for us which made it taste even better!
Weather was a bit ropey, but aparently perfect for sailing!! So we all jumped on board and headed off to Whitsunday Islands. The journey out was quite choppy and its fair to say that I felt a little under the weather!! No actual vom though, which was a bonus!! It was proper sailing too, I mean the boat was practically on its side while we all sat on the other side clinging on for dear life and then we would have to 'tack'!! (im up with the lingo now!) and then all cling on to the other side! Was lots of fun and a great experience!
We finally got out to the Islands and some calmer water and went snorkelling in our beautiful stinger suits! Sexy! Saw lots of fish and great coral as well as the mermaid and professional sync swimmer that was Paul! He was so funny I kept choking! Up early and in for another snorkel and the sun was quite bright so you could see all the colours of the coral and we swam with this turtle, which was fantastic! We then headed to Whitehaven beach, which was stunning!! I seem to say that alot but it was!
That night we headed to South Molle Island to meet up with the other boats for some dinner and drinking games and then a disco with great music!! I was in my element! Had a number of dance-offs!! Girls you would have been proud!! Alot of drinks consumed, including my new favourite the Jaegerbomb!! Was a fantastic night and we all had to get the dingy thing back to our boat at 1.30 in the morning in the pitch black! What an experience! When we got back to the boat we had snacks! and then got all our sleeping gear and headed up on deck to sleep beneath the stars! Was so much fun only to be woken by the grumpy skipper complaining about pillows on deck?! Another early morning and more snorkelling. The fish were unreal! So many of them swimming right next to you and some were quite big too! Then back on board for some lunch and relaxation while we headed back to airlee beach. Some sunbathing, but sun was so hot it was hard to sit out in it for too long!! Alot of sweating and can't just jump in the sea to cool you down unless you put on stinger suit which is quite hot in itself! Got back onto land although all still felt like we were at sea and then headed to Lagoon to cool off. Back to Magnums and headed out for some dinner.
Am in Airlee beach now and its Australia Day so will no doubt be heading out tonight!! Am just off to sort out some bits for the rest of the trip, so had better go!
love to you all
