Our Mekong river trip started in Chiang Mai with a 5.5 hour journey by minibus to Chiang Khong - the scenery en route was amazing and different to what we've seen elsewhere in Thailand - much greener and more mountainous. Well we arrived in Kho Pha-ngan via mini bus, a double decker VIP bus, a normal bus, a ferry and finally a pickup truck which took all of 9 hours door to door so not bad going really. We left Ko Lanta for Rai Lay Beach in Krabi which is famous for it's 'large rock formations and crescent-shaped coves in the emerald sea, a mecca for rock climbers who congregate in these parts to tackle some of the worlds most picturesque climbs' so there you go, Conrad you'd love it!
