Had a fantastic day with lots happening!! We walked down to Union Square this morning to catch the hop on hop off bus and did a bit of a circuit. We hopped off at Haight Ashbury to go and see the 'Painted Ladies' ( the iconic Victorian houses featured in lots of TV shows and movies). From there we travelled on to Chinatown and wandered through the shops. Found a noice restaurant for lunch and then resumed our shopping expedition!! After that we walked back towards Union Square and caught up with a cable car to go for a ride to Fisherman's Wharf. Followed our noses to a cocktail bar attached to a restaurant and discovered a 5 piece jazz band playing. Of course we had to stay for cocktails ..... and wine ..... and then a beer. It was great fun and the musicians were fantastic. Had some conversations with a couple of them and one toured with Cleo Lane, so he spent a fair amount of time in Australia. That was another unexpected fantastic experience!!! After that we made our way back to the hotel and then to a lovely Italian restaurant a few doors down!! (I hope that Gryndall is at the ready when we return, to do the cooking, cleaning up and general menial chores!!!! I don't know that I'll remember how to cook!!!) :-) Tomorrow we are off to pick up the convertible Mustang and drive as far as Monterey. Guess we'll check out Carmel and are excited about the amazing Big Sur drive ahead! All continues to be fantastic. Weather was much more pleasant today - no fog, quite warm and could see ALL of the Golden Gate Bridge - hooray!!! Loving San Fran and looking forward to our Highway 1 drive!! Love to all at home. 8 sleeps and then we're home!!!! xxx
