Oooooohhhhhh ...... It's freezing here!!! Went off this morning to ride the hop on hop off for the morning, but only lasted about an hour!! Hopped off!!!! and walked back to the hotel to get changed and add more layers to us and the back pack for later. Aaahhh!!! We then resumed our expedition and travelled as far as the Alcatraz Landing at the pier not far from Fishermans Wharf. Found a lovely restaurant and had a great lunch with some really good Californian Pinot Noir!!! We boarded the Alcatraz boat at 2:20pm and had a smooth sail over, and then proceeded to wander around there until 5pm. It was really interesting and a far more complex complex than I had thought!!! Neither of us realized how huge it was! Anyway after we came back to the pier, we strolled down to Fishermans Wharf and had a look through lots of interesting trinket type shops, but bought very little. Found our way to 'Pier Market', a seafood restaurant where we shared some very delicious local fare!! Tomorrow we will hop on again and revisit some spots and also continue on to see the stops we missed today. Saw glimpses of the Golden Gate Bridge, cos it's so foggy!! All is great here - enjoying California, even though it's substantially cooler than we thought! One week today until we board at LAX to come home! Time flies! :-) xxx
