Beautiful day in downtown Washington!! Today we went on the Metro to the Arlington Cemetery. We saw the graves of the Kennedy family and went through the beautiful Arlington House which belonged to Robert E Lee - all wonderfully maintained and of course as an immense military cemetery, very sobering. Yep - Bwian at The Whitehouse!!! Busy day!!!! We went on a full day tour of Washington today and saw all of the important places- The Capitol, The Whitehouse, The Pentagon, The Arlington Cemetery, a number of presidents' memorials - Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt and Jefferson + many war memorials - Vietnam, Korea, WW II + did a river/harbour cruise and took in the sights from the water. It was great, although a bit grey with a little drizzle from time to time...

Enjoyed an easy journey on the Amtrak to Washington DC this morning and settled into our plush hotel - very noice!!! Went for a jaunt this afternoon to the historic area, Georgetown, had a look, walk around and a drink on the foreshore of the Potomac River/Washington Harbour (but it doesn't look like a harbour!- just looks like a river to me!!!) .
