Deborahs journey
Today i did a barossa valley tour. Had to get the bus into town at 6.40am to get picked up at 7.45am. THere were only 14 people on the tour. As we drove towards the B.V we stopped at a giant rocking horse and toy factory. There is also a small wildlife park there that we had a short time to walk around. The animals walk around freely and are able to buy some food to feed them. I didnt buy any food but the Kangaroos are obviously so used to humans and being feed that they wouldnt leave me alone and kept following me until i lead them to a family that had food!! Then we continued onto the BV. THe first winery we stopped at was Jacobs Creek which is now owned by a French Family. it was a structured wine tasting, started with a sparkling rose, then a few whites, 1 rose and few reds and a port. Dont like red wine or port but thought i would try them incase i liked these ones, but i didnt! The next winery was Vinecrest which is a small winery and was a structured tasting again. Tasted the same sort of wines but preferred the Jacobs creek white wines. next winery was Richmond which is a biger winery again. here i just tried the white and rose wines. We had visited these three wineries in aobut 2 hours so everyone was in need of some lunch!! The weather was a bit cloudy so the driver had already decided not to do a bbq but to have a meal at the pub instead! After a quicklunch we headed to the final winery at Bethany. This was a small winery and was unstructured so i just asked to try the ones i wanted. This included one rose and a white wine from kangaroo island and a local white wine. All the vines here have ben pruned and are all bear, the area around them are green and when the summer comes it changes around and wil look like the photo. After this winery we drove back towards Adelaide stopping at the Whispering Wall. This is a curved dam so the sound waves follow the dam around and if u stand on the platfroms either side of the dam you are able to speak to each other and hear each other clearly. Eventually got back to Adelaide just before 6pm. Renae and I then went out for some drinksin Glenelg.
