Left Byron Bay at midday at the weather was beautiful. We had to drive for 4 or 5 hours until we reached a very small place called Arrawarra where we were staying with Mojo surf for our surf camp. On the drive down the weather got progressively worse and was a thunderstorm and a torrential downpour at one stage. We were dreading surfing in this weather. Luckily the weather cleared a bit when we got to camp. After putting our bags in our rooms we were kitted up in our wetsuits and a surfboard (extra long to make it easier for beginners!!!) and headed on down to the beach. We had to do some warm up exercises as we had been on a bus all day and the taken through the four steps to standing up on the boad. As easy as that!!!! WE all got in the see and a bit aprehensive about getting on the surf board, the waves were big. Anyway it was great fun trying but i just didnt have the strength in my arms or legs to push myself up onto the board. THe instructors were trying to help me. You get tired very easily constantly trying to push urself up and wade back out to the waves. Think we all went in around 7pm exhausted and bruised after landing on my bum several times. Luckily there were a few others that couldnt stand up after today either. Tried to blame it on my height, have long legs to pull through but the instructor helping me was 6 foot 4 so i cant use that excuse.
Had dinner and an earlyish night
