And so we are finally at the end and this is the last blog of our 10 month trip. We are now in New York and having a great time, especially with all the Christmas decorations and lights everywhere!
We arrived on Monday evening and immediately went to Times Square and then on to the Rockafeller Centre to see the massive Christmas tree and ice rink.....you can't get more festive than this particular tree!
On tuesday we hit 5th Av and all the shops. Macys was very impressive and we spent a good couple of hours in there getting completely lost....its massive! Afterwards we went to see the Freedom Tower (which is still under construction) and the 9/11 memorial pools, which are very impressive. In the evening we found a nearby cinema and went to see the Hobbit, which was fantastic:-)
Today we started off by heading downtown to see the Statue of Liberty. The last time we were here we were able to get a ferry across to the statue and walk around the base. However, due to hurricane sandy the island has been badly damaged and shut for at least year and so we had to view the statue from afar. We spent the rest of the day walking around Central Park, which was very pretty in the winter sun.
We now have one full day left in New York before we fly home for Christmas on friday night! Can't believe how far we've come and how much we've done and seen. Its been a wonderful year:-)
Thanks for reading!! :-)
