The first three nights in Melbourne, were not very nice due to staying in the dirty hostel. We hated it but luckily could cancel the rest of the week However, the hostel was near St Kilda, so we spent most of our time there. On Saturday we went to Luna Park in St Kilda, to watch the reply of the AFL final. Unfortunately, St Kilda did not win but there was a great atmosphere and it was a very nice sunny day. The next day was also sunny and hot so we went to St Kilda beach to top up our tans and see the area.

On Monday, we booked into a motel nearer the centre of the city, for the same price, clean, friendly/helpful staff, and even satalite tv!!!!!! Dan was still getting pain in his ankle so after checking in we went to a&e, as the hospital was close by. He had it xrayed and there were no broken bones or teared ligaments so we were very pleased. He saw a physio who did some work on the foot and gave him some execises to do as it is very stiff. She said that walking on it is fine (good for it in fact) but just to take it easy when hiking and wrap it up.

The rest of the week we spent checking out the sights and attractions of the city, including Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Federation Square, Victoria Market, Fitzroy Gardens, Cooks Cottage and we went on a cruise up the Yarra River. We also met up for drinks with a couple we met in Adelaide as they were in town too.

Tomorrow we are off on a 3 day adventure tour to Sydney!
