We are still enjoying the teaching and can't believe that we have been been doing it a week already. One of the kindergarten groups we taught numbers to on Friday repeated them back to us yesterday. A very proud moment to think that they have actually learnt and remembered what we had taught them. Although we only teach for a few hours a day, we really think that we're making a difference to these kids lives, even if it is just a small one! Sometimes it is difficult with the language barrier and making the kid understand what you want them to do. However, their happy smiling faces make up for it!
This evening we had a lovely time at Baan Unrak children's home. We visited the home to watch a performance which the kids put on very Wednesday evening. There was different kids performing different things. There was an acrobatic dance, a young lad doing football tricks, lads doing street dance/break dancing and a Juggler. They are all very talented and a joy to watch. Nearly all of the children in the home were Burmese and had fled their home land into Thailand. An Italian lady founded the home in the early 90's when she visited the local area and realised that there were so many orphaned refguees that needed a home. She and her staff of volunteers do an excellent job caring for the 130 children and they are all so happy and smiling. We left without feeling sad or pity for the children and felt so happy as the children were living in a clean and loving home, happy and healthy and getting the best out of their lives. It really touched our hearts!

Dawn Whiteman I can see why you both have loved teaching these children - They are adorable. I would not be surprised to hear that you are going to return there sometime in the future. I believe the way it has touched your hearts that you could spend some quality time with these kids and it would be a very fulfilling experience both for you and them. Love you Mum xxxxx
