Teaching was cancelled today as it is a public holiday here in Thailand today and tomorrow, so instead we went for an elephant trek and bamboo rafting. First we went on a boat trip down the river and visited temples that had once been sunken. They certainly weren't as ornate as the previous temples we've seen and that was due to the water wadhing off the brightly coloured paint. After that we travelled to the elephant camp.
We sat on the head of elephants as all the seats had been taken and to start off with it was quite scarey! It was quite an experience to say the least! The hairs on the elephant's head were really prickly and the ears were flapping against our legs. The trek lasted about 45 minutes and the whole time it rained, but it didn't spoil the experience one bit! Something we'll never forget. When we finished on the elephants we had lunch and then crossed the river...BY WALKING THROUGH IT!!!!! Quite scarey but we were holding hands and all got across safely. Then we went on the bamboo rafts.
We went bamboo rafting down the river!!! Raft was only made of 9 sticks of bamboo and we had to stand up, balance and steer the raft! GREAT FUN!!!! We fell off a few times and got loads of bruises but well worth it! A great day in Thailand we won't forgot fast!
