Another nice sunny day here with temperatures in the 30's. David went for a wander and as usual got lost. In fairness getting lost is easily achieved here as straight roads are not common in older areas and everything is written in Vietnamese.
David has decided to petition the local people's committee to let him be minister for pavements. The position has clearly been vacant for sometime. We're not sure anyone has been managing the pavements since the French left and since then the probably once lovely tree lined boulevards have gone to rack and ruin and are now used as anything but pavements. We've seen them being used as (in no particular order) restaurants, hairdressers, motor bike repair workshops, welders (don't look at the arc as safety glasses are not made available to passers by), rubbish dumps, parking facilities, dominos/drafts/card schools, hawker stalls, road (but only against the flow of traffic). They are all in a poor state with the road being safer than the pavement. Add on rainy season and so the puddles covering the holes in the pavement and its a game of plodge-stumble-ouch.
