On Monday 14th we made the four hour drive to the Thai border on the road which is "under construction"! The road improved dramatically after crossing the border! On Tuesday 15th we went to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where we went around the stalls by canoe. After this we visited the Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Railway, which was not quite how we envisaged it - lots of tourist attractions, restaurants, stalls, etc! Finally we visited the Tiger Temple, a Buddhist monastery which has become a wildlife sanctuary, and home to several tigers. We were able to touch the tigers and have photos taken with them as they have been raised in captivity by the monks. Our last trip before leaving Bangkok took us to Ayutthaya, Thailand's second capital (1350-1767). This is a World Heritage site with many ruined temples as well as the Summer Palace and one of the world's largest reclining Buddha statues. We cruised back to Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River.
