Our Year of Adventure
We were booked on the afternoon boat, David for diving and Maria for snorkeling but the sea was looking a little bumpy. There had been a huge storm through the night and this was the aftermath of it. Maria decided to cancel and go to the beach instead. That perhaps wasn't the best option of the day either because she got chewed alive by sand flies.
David's first dive at Turtle Crossing was a bit disappointing because the surge was causing problems for a few of the group, the visibility was down and there were no turtles 'crossing' today. The second dive at Dixie's Place was much better. There was still a bit of surge but there was a turtle below us as we descended and another one that only three of us saw on the reef face. The visibility was much better here and it was a really great dive site with nice coral & fish.
David cooked Pepperoni Pasta for dinner and even surprised himself at how good it tasted...but then again, anything matched with a nice Chilean Red would probably have been good.
A little later, we went back to Deliciosa, the ice cream shop, for dessert and both went for the Espresso Fudge. As we sat, eating our ice creams, on swing watching the beach in the nightlight, we noticed strange movements over the sea. It was almost ghostly, with shadows slowly dancing and then sudden rapid movements. Then we realised it was raining, and raining hard at that. To use the phrase 'the Heavens had opened' was an understatement, we might as well have been under a waterfall. We stuck it out for 30 minutes before we gave up and braved the short walk home. Despite being a short walk we were soaked to the skin. No worries though, everything will be dry by morning...
