We took the local bus up to Chiang Khong which would be are place to stop for a day until we could cross the border to Laos! The local bus was very breezy and interesting to see the way the rain had affected other areas of Thailand other than Chiang Rai. Well when we made it to Chiang Rai after a windy bus journey which started at 5.30 in the morning and ended at around 11am; we went so impressed. But after settling into a nice guesthouse with a lovely garden the place started to seem nicer alreay. We spent the rest of the day chilling out, having a coffee in a local cafe, reading back at the guest house in the sun. Well Pai was rather chilled out, we got the bus from Chiang Mai with Tim, Janis and Thibaut, it was a rather windy road taking over 3 hours. There was many sharp turns in the road which were rather scary, but when we reached Pai we were delighted to find it was much more chilled out than Chiang Mai. Well after taking the night train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai which took a whooping 18 hours! This was mainly due to the point changing engine just outside Chiang Mai breaking down so we had to wait on the train for and extra couple of hours, this was made easier by playing cards. We have been in the crazy busy Bangkok for a couple of days now! Enjoying slowly learning how to get around in this traffic heavy city.
